Notes for Installation
I always try to keep my install and uninstall routines in a manner, that they are working fully transparent to the users. They don't save data to unintended locations and also the software can completely be removed from the system.
Installation Overview
During the install the following things will happen:
- All files will be written to the program directory you have choosen during the install. This directory will be removed completely when you decide to uninstall the software.
- The ActiveX control „tabctl32.ocx“ will be automatically registered. It also automatically gets unregistered during a possible uninstall.
- In the Windows registry a key named “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Current Version \ Uninstall \ Myst-Explorer’s Toolkit_is1” will be created. It keeps the information for the uninstall. In two other keys named “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Rotering \ Myst-Explorer’s Toolkit” and „HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Rotering \ Myst-Explorer's Toolkit“ the actual user settings are saved. All keys are removed during an uninstall.
During the use of the program the following data additionally will be saved on your system:
- If you have installed a UserKi, a copy of it named „userki.bak“ is written to the directory „Backup“ located inside the program directory. This copy is removed during the uninstall.
Notes for uninstall
If you have your UserKi deactivated when you start the uninstall the deletion of the backup that happens automatically would lead to a complete remove of the UserKi. To prevent this happening by accident, you will be asked in this case if the UserKi should be reactivated again before the uninstall takes place.
